Dreambox receiver from low-quality one???
There’re a lot of factories and workshops producing and assembling clones and copies of Dreambox receivers(DM500,DM600,DM800HD,DM7020,DM7025,etc.) in todays’ China mainland,although these receivers are all clones compared to the originals,but between them there’re still plenty of differences on electronic components,workmanship and of course quality.Laities can be cheated easily by the almost identical appearance and can not distinguish them apart.
Here,we would like take the DM500S for example to disclose/reveal not only the discrepancies between high-quality imitation DMs and low-quality ones,but also some impactful methods to identify these receivers’ differences.
You know,normally there’re two types cloned DM500S in China,one is the 4-layer PCB DM500S almost as same as the originals,this type produced by using 4-layer PCB and guaranteed high-quality electronic components,so its quality is excellent and could run steadily and safely.The other type is 2-layers PCB cloned DM500S,there’re so many factories and workshops producing these receivers by using 2-layer PCB and low-quality parts such as cheap ICs and tuners or even retreaded electronic components,and some important pars(such as LDO) also deleted deliberately in order to reduce the product cost,consequently,their quality is not good as the originals, the boxes can not run steadily enough.

Clock Oscillator |
Using cheap and inferior IC 74HCU04 and Crystal Resonator(27MHz) to form the receiver’s clock oscillator,this clock oscillator does not have capability to control the voltage,so the frequency it outputs can be easily influenced by the external temperature, aging of components and so on, so the Frequency Drift appears,and it will causes mosaics, desynchrony of pictures and sound if the drift is too much. |
Using expensive and high-quality IC,such as MK2727 or T73227 to form the receiver’s clock oscillator,both MK2727 and T73227 have capabilities to control the voltage,so the clock oscillator’s output frequency is amazingly steady and accurate,so you will never see mosaics, desynchrony of pictures and sound or other problems on these good-qualty receiver. |

Audio Frequency DAC |
Cheap and inferior IC PT8211,it’s a 16-bit dual track DAC,its’ parameters is:-68dB SNR,so you can know it’s just a low-grade DAC that always used to produce FTA receivers. |
